A California man charged with heroin as well as controlled substance trafficking made an appearance in Fayette County Court on Monday. 54-year old Rosario Gonzalez of Chula Vista, California appeared in court for a status hearing with an interpreter present. Through the interpreter, Gonzales informed the court after previously stating he would be looking to hire private counsel, Gonzalez instead requested that he be appointed a public defender to which Judge Don Sheafor allowed. A preliminary hearing in the matter was previously set for September 15 at 11am and that court date was confirmed. Gonzalez remains in the Fayette County Jail on $750,000 bond.
