The Lady Vandals volleyball team opened the 2017 season with a three-set win over St. Elmo-Brownstown, 25-20, 21-25, 25-9 at home on Thursday night. After overcoming a tough second set and pulling themselves back together for dominating third set victory, Lady Vandals Coach Amber Connor says she was very pleased with how her experienced group of senior leaders and her young players hitting the Varsity floor for the first time came together.
For the Lady Vandals, Carley Wilkerson had 6 kills, J’amy Jackson and Sam Miller each had 3 kills and Shelbi Stewart had 14 assists. The Lady Vandals are now 1-0. The Varsity team will be back in action next Tuesday when they play their first road game at Tuesday.
For St. Elmo-Brownstown, Marlee Nolen had kills and Dana Shelton had 14 digs.
In the JV match, Vandalia won in three 25-13, 21-25, 25-17
Freshman match was a split: 23-25, 25-20
