(Springfield, IL) — The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is now officially its own thing. Governor Bruce Rauner over the weekend signed a law that creates a new, independent agency to oversee the library and museum. The library and museum had been run by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, but was plagued by infighting and bureaucratic red tape. The governor had earlier ordered the change, and the law simply codifies the governor’s order.
