(Pittsburgh, PA) — The Pirates scored five runs in the second inning and held off a late rally to top the Cardinals 6-4 in Pittsburgh. Adam Frazier and Starling Marte each hit a two-run homer to highlight the frame. Jose Osuna added a pinch-hit solo-shot in the sixth as the Pirates snapped a six-game slide. Chad Kuhl picked up the win and Felipe Rivero locked down his 13th save. Paul DeJong and Jose Martinez homered late in the game to pull St. Louis within striking distance. Michael Wacha was chased after four innings of five-run ball to take the loss. Wacha says he was feeling good up until the rain delay.
With the loss, the Cardinals fall 2.5 games back of the Cubs in the NL Central. The Cards and Pirates wrap up their 4 game series with a night game at 6 pm, played in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
