A Farina man charged with arson has entered a not guilty plea in Fayette County Court. 60 year old Charles S. Evans made an appearance in Fayette County Court on Wednesday and waived a preliminary hearing before entering a plea of not guilty. Evans was formally arraigned on his charge which is one count of arson as information states the Evans allegedly “knowingly damaged a building, being a house that the Peoples Bank and Trust have interest in, without the consent of Peoples Bank and Trust.” The count is a Class 2 felony which is punishable by 3 to 7 years in prison. Evans will make his next appearance in court on September 15 at 10am for a pre-trial hearing. Evans remains in the Fayette County Jail on the $150,000 bond.
