The Illinois House is shooting down legislation based on the Governor’s amendatory veto of a school funding plan. Instead of trying to override the veto as the Senate did on Sunday, the House voted on a separate bill with the Governor’s changes. It failed miserably, and House Republican Leader Jim Durkin denounced the effort.
State Representative Barbara Flynn Currie says she’s happy to be a “no” vote.
Democrats say there is no support for the Governor’s revisions. The four legislative leaders are scheduled to meet Friday in hopes of reaching a compromise.
