A Vandalia woman charged with aggravated battery of a child resulting in great bodily harm or permanent disability now has a trial date set in Fayette County Court. 24-year old Aubree Hammer made an appearance in Fayette County Court on Tuesday in which it was noted that a fitness evaluation of Hammer found that she was fit to stand trial. With the evaluation finding, a trial date of September 25 at 8:30am was set with a final pre-trial in the matter set for September 1 at 10am. Hammer is alleged to have injured her, at that time, 3 ½ month old baby in February of 2016 and is charged with one count of aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 with great bodily harm or permanent disability. The offense is a Class X Felony and it is punishable by 6-30 years in prison. Bond for Hammer is set at $1 million and she does currently remain in custody in the Fayette County Jail.
