(St. Louis, MO) — Michael Wacha tossed six innings of scoreless ball to lead the Cardinals passed the Diamondbacks 1-0 in St. Louis. Wacha earned the win improving to 8-and-4 while Trevor Rosenthal notched the six-out save. Jedd Gyorko drove in the game’s lone run with an RBI single in the sixth. The Cardinals have won four-of-five. Arizona starter Robbie Ray left in the second inning after being hit in the head by a line drive. T.J. McFarland took the loss in relief. The D’backs fell to 59-and-44.
(Milwaukee, WI) — Ryan Suter tossed seven shutout innings as the Brewers held off the Cubs, 2-1, in Milwaukee. Suter allowed four hits and struck out five to earn his second win. Manny Pina and Orlando Arcia plated runs for the Brewers, who ended a two-game slide. The Crew sits a half-game behind the Cubs for first in the NL Central. Javier Baez homered in the eighth inning to prevent the shutout for Chicago. Jose Quintana tossed six innings of two-run ball to get charged with his first loss as a Cub.
