Senate President John Cullerton says he will send the Governor the education funding reform bill on Monday. Cullerton says he hasn’t advanced the measure for fear that Governor Rauner’s promised amendatory veto will kill the bill and prevent money from going to schools. He says he’s been trying to set up a meeting with the Governor.
Cullerton says if they don’t meet, he will move the legislation to the Governor’s desk on Monday. Rauner says the Senate should send him the bill now, and say it’s “unconscionable” to play games with children’s education.
