(Carbondale, IL) — It’s a sign of both the state of Southern Illinois University and southern Illinois‘ economy. SIU trustees are looking to eliminate seven degree programs, including a bachelors and a masters in mining engineering, in the latest wave of budget cuts. SIU Associate Provost David DiLalla says all seven degrees don’t have many students. In addition to mining, SIU is looking to cut degrees in history, political science, and Africana studies.
