Illinois Treasurer Mike Frerichs is offering some suggestions to help make sure the state avoid junk bond status. The state has a budget but Treasurer Frerichs says rating agencies could still downgrade the state’s credit rating. He urges Governor Bruce Rauner to meet with the bond houses and reassure them that Illinois is embracing the new spending plan.
Frerichs also says schools need to open on time and that the state should reach out to Illinois employers to explain the new tax rates.
