(St. Louis, MO) — John Jaso hit the go-ahead home run in the ninth inning to help lead the Pirates past the Cardinals 4-3 in St. Louis. David Freese tied the game against his former team with an RBI single in the eighth. Josh Bell also went deep for Pittsburgh. Felipe Rivero picked up the win in relief. Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright gave up two runs over seven innings in a no-decision. Seung-Hwan Oh fell to 1-and-4 with the loss.
(Miami, FL) — Jose Urena and three relievers combined on a six-hit shutout as the Marlins blanked the Cubs 2-0 in Miami. Urena tossed six innings of five-hit ball to pick up his sixth win. AJ Ramos finished it off for his 11th save. Giancarlo Stanton homered and Christian Yelich added a sac-fly for Miami. John Lackey surrendered just one earned run over six innings to take the tough-luck loss. The Cubs dropped to 15-and-20 away from Wrigley Field.
