The driver of a semi involved in a fatal semi-bicycle accident in Fayette County back in March of 2016 will not face any additional charges. Fayette County State’s Attorney Joshua Morrison informed WKRV-WPMB of that decision on Thursday for 32 year old Kevin A. Bagwill of Godfrey. In March of last year, 30 year old Jason Hearty of Altamont was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 40 on his bicycle, about one mile east of St. Elmo, when Illinois State Police say he was struck and killed by Bagwill’s semi. Hearty was pronounced dead at the scene, and Bagwill is alleged to have left the scene of the accident, which occurred before dawn in the early morning hours. At the time, Morrison said that further charges could be pursued after he received and reviewed police and medical reports. And, the decision has been made for no further charges. Bagwill faces a citation for Failure to give Notice Of Accident and is due for a status hearing in that matter on July 13th.
