Dry conditions persist across Illinois and could soon become a problem. With precipitation well below normal, it’s been a very dry June so far says State Climatologist Jim Angel. He notes central Illinois received almost no rain all in recent weeks.
Angel says this rapid drying can lead to a “Flash Drought” because conditions can deteriorate rapidly. He says we aren’t there yet but will be if Illinois doesn’t see some significant rain soon.
