(Chicago, IL) — The Illinois House has passed a bill that would automatically add thousands of names to the Illinois voter rolls. The bill would mean that visitors to the Secretary of State’s office and other state agencies would automatically be registered to vote, unless they state otherwise. Evanston State Rep Robyn Gabel says the goal is to modernize voter registration to make the process more efficient, more accurate and more secure. If the Senate concurs in an amendment the House added, the bill would be sent to Governor Rauner, who last year vetoed a previous version of the bill.
