(Denver, CO) — Adam Wainwright spearheaded a four-hit shutout as the Cardinals topped the Rockies, 3-0, in Denver. Wainwright surrendered just three hits and a walk over seven innings of work to pick up the win. Seung-Hwan Oh worked around a hit in the ninth to notch his 11th save. Tommy Pham homered as the Cards’ won for just the third time in the last 10 games. Ian Desmond recorded two of Colorado’s four hits. Kyle Freeland was tagged with the loss as the Rockies record fell to 32-and-19.
(Los Angeles, CA) — Brandon McCarthy and Ross Stripling combined for a three-hitter as the Dodgers shutout the Cubs, 5-0, in Los Angeles. McCarthy tossed six innings of two-hit ball to get the win, Stripling surrendered one hit on his way to a three inning save. Chase Utley notched three RBI and Chris Taylor homered in the winning effort. The Dodgers have won three-straight. Chicago was held scoreless for the second consecutive day. John Lackey save up five-runs in five frames to take the loss.
