(Springfield, IL) — The head of Illinois‘ child protection agency says his workers don’t remove kids simply because a house is dirty. Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Director George Sheldon yesterday told state lawmakers he’s waiting for answers about the death of a Joliet toddler as well. Sheldon says state workers visited the home before the girl was found dead, and cleared the parents. Sheldon says police investigators are now handling the case.
