Illinois State Police reports say the accident occurred at 8:15 am on Saturday morning on Illinois Route 140, about a ½ mile west of County Road 600E. Illinois State Police reports say that a vehicle driven by 40 year old Ferrell M. Kissiar of Vandalia was traveling westbound on Illinois Route 140, when the driver stated he slowed down due to a curve in the roadway. As he slowed down, he is said to have lost control of his vehicle causing the vehicle to go off the roadway to the right, striking a ditch, and overturning. The vehicle then came to a resting point on it’s side in a field about 30 yards off the roadway to the north. Both Kissiar and a 14 year old male passenger were transported to Fayette County Hospital for treatment of injuries.
