This week is Distracted Driving Awareness Week, and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Vandalia Police Department will be taking part in the enforcement and education this week. With distracted driving, some of the biggest issues are cell phones being used while driving. But, with the planting season upon us, Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith alerts all drivers to keep their eyes open for slow moving farm equipment.
The campaign will run throughout this week in this area and around the state of Illinois, and will also include the enforcement of state distracted driving laws.
