(St. Louis, MO) — Amir Garrett picked up his first Major League win with six-innings of scoreless ball as the Reds blanked the Cardinals 2-0 at Busch Stadium. Joey Votto drove in the game’s first run with an RBI double in the sixth. Scott Schebler’s solo-shot added insurance in the ninth. Raisel Iglesias picked up a six-out save as Cincy won its third-straight. Mike Leake took the loss while giving up just one-run in eight innings of work. The Cards’ mustered just two hits and fell to 1-and-3.
(Milwaukee, WI) — Ryan Braun scored the walk-off run in the 11th inning on a wild pitch as the Brewers downed the Cubs, 2-1, at Miller Park. Mike Montgomery’s pitch got away from Willson Contreras with the bases loaded. Jimmy Nelson tossed six frames of one-run ball with eight strikeouts for Milwaukee, and Jared Hughes earned the relief win. Ben Zobrist belted a solo homer for the Cubs in the second. Montgomery fell to 0-and-2.
