A Vandalia woman charged with injuring her child made an appearance in Fayette County Court on Wednesday. 24-year old Aubree Hammer appeared in court for a pre-trial hearing which was then reset as the expert conducting an evaluation requested more time to conclude the evaluation and report coming from the evaluation. The pre-trial hearing has been reset for May 9 at 10am with the delay in the case charged to the defense. Hammer is alleged to have injured her, at that time, 3 ½ month old baby in February of 2016 and is charged with the offense of aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 with great bodily harm or permanent disability, which is a Class X Felony and is punishable by 6-30 years in prison. Bond for Hammer is set at $1 million and she currently remains in the Fayette County Jail.
