Three county offices will receive hardware upgrades following approval by the county board at their monthly meeting on Tuesday night. The County Clerk, County Treasurer and Supervisor of Assessments will all receive computer upgrades following the passing of the motion. Supervisor of Assessment Cindi Lotz explained to board members that they had outgrown their server and their current computers had not been upgraded for 7 years after their previous contract had included upgrades every 4 years. An amended motion to approve the purchase of the hardware for the offices was approved with the cost to come from the Capital Improvement Fund.
Meanwhile, after discussing the phone line situation at the courthouse during last month’s meeting, the board approved the addition of a 16-port phone box at the courthouse, joining the two currently in place. The Fayette County Emergency Management Agency is mandated to have two lines and there is a need in the sheriff’s office and probation departments as well that will be helped by the installation of the new box.
