The Vandalia City Council approved an agreement for engineering services that will begin work to hopefully solve the issues with the Kaskaskia River intake. A resolution was carried by the council unanimously approving an agreement with John H. Crawford & Associates for a preliminary engineering report and design for the Kaskaskia River intake. The issue has long been an issue for the city since it was installed over ten years ago. At times, the city has had to resort to using a floating intake and pump when the river has been at high levels.
