(Springfield, IL) — The state of Illinois isn’t saying not to eat fish that you catch in local rivers and streams, but the state is saying some people may want to not eat those fish. The Illinois Department of Public Health yesterday issued an updated “Fish Consumption Advisory.” The update says there are increasing levels of pesticides and chemicals in some of the state’s fish species. The ‘advisory’ says young children and pregnant women may want to avoid eating fish caught in many of the state’s rivers and streams.
