Woman Charged With Injuring Infant Child Set to Appear in Court

A 23-year old Vandalia woman charged with injuring her, at that time, 3 ½ month old baby in February of 2016 will appear in Fayette County Court on Tuesday. Aubree Hammer will make an appearance on Tuesday at 10am for what is scheduled to be a pre-trial in a matter that has been continued and the original jury trial date vacated due to a change in public defenders due to conflict three times as well as delays caused by changes in the doctor doing the fitness evaluation of Hammer which was filed with the court in September and allowed the matter to proceed. Hammer is charged with the offense of aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 with great bodily harm or permanent disability, which is a Class X Felony. Bond for Hammer is set at $1 million and she remains in the Fayette County Jail.
