The numbers are in and January ended up being a pretty mild month in Illinois. Last month was the 14th warmest January on record in Illinois, with the statewide average temperature coming in at 31.4 degrees. That’s five degrees above normal says State Climatologist Jim Angel.

Precipitation was about average, but snowfall totaled less than an inch in many locations last month. The latest long range forecast shows and increased chance for above normal temperatures for February.
