The Grand Budget deal that is being worked on in Springfield is not one that State Senator Kyle McCarter cares for very much at all. Senator McCarter says the budget deal being worked on in the Capital repeats past mistakes that drove away tens of thousands of Illinoisans for opportunities elsewhere. McCarter says included in the proposal is a 3 part tax hike.
McCarter says other parts of the tax hike include new taxes on everyday services and what is called a “Business Opportunity” Tax to be imposed on company payrolls. Senator McCarter says the state’s fiscal crisis being blamed for the tax hikes could have been avoided. He says there were plenty of warnings and he offered two balanced budget plans himself that could have provided a way out of the fiscal crisis that’s currently plaguing state government.
