(Chicago, IL) — New legislation is requiring Illinois elementary schools and day-care centers to test for lead in the drinking water. Governor Rauner signed the measure into law yesterday morning at the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
The law takes effect immediately and applies to facilities built before 2000. Several dignitaries including the Reverend Jesse Jackson took part in the signing event.
