(Chicago, IL) — Illinois is at an all-time high in the number of registered voters and the number will continue to grow. The state elections board says more people are now registered than ever before — nearly eight million — and board executive Jim Tenuto says they’re hoping that translates into a high turnout on November 8th. He says in 2012 there was a 70-percent turnout following a 71-percent turnout in 2008, when Barack Obama first ran for president. He says there seems to be a great deal of interest in this election as well. Voter registration will continue right up to and including election day in many places in Illinois. Meanwhile, more than 122-thousand people in Illinois have voted early so far.
