(Chicago, IL) — The spending lid is off in the election fight between incumbent state comptroller Leslie Munger and her Democratic challenger Susana Mendoza. The state board of elections says a two-hundred-60-thousand-dollar donation from Munger’s husband, attorney John Munger opened the door to unlimited spending by all candidates in the race. Munger was appointed by Governor Rauner last year after the death of Judy Baar Topinka. Mendoza is the Chicago City Clerk.
