The Vandalia City Council approved a measure at their second meeting of the month Monday night that will allow the city to pay its general obligation bonds off a year earlier. The council heard a presentation on the bond issue at their first meeting of the month but were unable to act on it due to it not being on the agenda. And, Mayor Gottman stressed that the measure signed for the issuance of General Obligation Refunding Bonds is not and extension of bonds.
As Mayor Gottman stated, the move will save the city over $200,000 along with th bonds being able to be paid off a year early.
