(Washington, DC) — U.S. Senator Dick Durbin is announcing over 25-million dollars in federal funding for water safety programs in Illinois. The USDA is giving grants to Greene and Jersey counties for help with the Emergency Community Water Assistance Program, which helps protect water supplies from being impacted by natural disasters. Nine communities, including Monticello, Dieterich, Mound City, Palmyra, Aroma Park, and Nashville, are getting money that will go towards the Water and Waste Disposal Program, which is used to develop drinking water and waste disposal systems.
