(Undated) — U.S. Senator Mark Kirk’s doctor says suffering a stroke won’t affect his mental abilities. The “Sun Times” reports Dr. Richard Fessler wrote a medical letter saying the Illinois Republican “has made a full cognitive recovery.” His 2012 stroke did leave him with a number of physical ailments including impaired vision in one eye, occasional halting speech, no use of an arm and limited use of a leg. The medical information was revealed as Kirk is seeking re-election this fall against Representative Tammy Duckworth.
