(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner’s impact is being felt in local political races, despite his claims of not being involved. A sometime critic of Governor Rauner is dropping out of the competition to replace retiring Republican state Senator Matt Murphy. State Representative David Harris says he’ll stay in the House instead. This, just days after what the “Daily Herald” reports were interviews done by Rauner and his allies with six possible replacements. Rauner insists though that he’s not getting involved in individual races. He says he does encourage reformers to get involved in government. Rauner has donated millions to the state GOP for use in legislative races, but he says that’s to ensure that a two-party system continues in Illinois.
