(Manito, IL) — Illinois pumpkin farmers are predicting a strong harvest this year, unlike the dismal output last year. The “Journal-Star” reports that unlike 2015, when June rains drowned pumpkin vines around the state, weather and growing conditions this year have been favorable. Nathan Johanning of the University of Illinois extension agrees that pumpkin yields this year could be above average at 22 to 23 tons per acre.
