(Fox Lake, IL) — State Representative Pam Althoff says the law should be changed to bar survivor’s pension benefits if either party were convicted of a crime connected to a public sector job. The newly-filed bill is aimed at a case like that of Melodie Gliniewicz, who is trying to collect the pension of her husband, disgraced Fox Lake police Sergeant Joe Gliniewicz. He committed suicide before he could be charged with embezzlement and she is accused of aiding in his scheme. Althoff’s law would apply to future cases, but not the Gliniewicz case, which is still pending before the Fox Lake Police pension board.
