It appears that a report of a suspicious individual approaching children might have led to some reports that may have been a bit overblown. On Friday afternoon, Fayette County States Attorney Joshua Morrison put out an announcement for folks to be on the looking for a blue four door sedan, with a male occupant that was approaching kids. And, it was reportedly happening in the St. Peter/Farina/Kinmundy areas. After that report, Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray says there was a juvenile reported that a man tried to grab her and put her in a van last night at the Vandals’ football game. Chief Ray says, after further investigation and reviewing video of the area, it was found that story was fabricated. Chief Ray said there were some other children that thought they saw the blue car described. But, Chief Ray adds there was no indication of that happening and that there may have been a rush of panic over the earlier reports.
