(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner says the state’s doing all it can to stop a recurrence of Legionnaires’ disease at a state veterans home in Quincy. Rauner visited the Illinois Veterans Home Wednesday, the day after the state reported that two residents have developed new cases of Legionnaires’ disease. He says all residents with symptoms of the pneumonia-like illness are being tested, and admissions have temporarily been suspended. The 130-year-old complex got a five-million-dollar water treatment overhaul last year, after an outbreak of Legionnaires’ led to 12 deaths and four-dozen non-deadly cases.
