Two juveniles were arrested on Sunday in Smithboro by Bond County Sheriff’s Deputies after the two has allegedly stolen vehicles from a Vandalia Dealership. The vehicles were reported stolen to the Vandalia Police Department on Sunday morning from Arthur Young Inc in Vandalia. On Sunday afternoon, Bond County Chief Deputy Jim Leitshuh said the department had received complaints about reckless driving in the village of Smithboro and the two juveniles were taken into custody around 4 pm on Sunday afternoon at a Smithboro residence. Leitshuh says the juveniles were questioned by Vandalia Police and released to their parent, pending the possible filing of court petitions. Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray said on Monday they would be seeking a warrant for burglary and theft of a motor vehicle for both juveniles.
