(Philadelphia, PA) — Illinois Democratic leaders are considering Senator Dick Durbin as a possible challenger to Governor Bruce Rauner. Talk today among Illinois delegates at the party’s Philadelphia convention shifted quickly from Hillary Clinton to finding a suitable candidate for governor. State partly leader Michael Madigan said he and Durbin had discussed the idea a few months ago, but Durbin said today the focus now should be on the presidential election. Madigan says he hasn’t spoken to his daughter, Attorney General Lisa Madigan, about a run for governor recently, but she said today she’s concentrating on working to elect Hillary Clinton.
