(St. Louis, MO) — Matt Adams launched a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 16th inning to lift the Cardinals over the Dodgers, 4-3, in a marathon game from Busch Stadium. Jedd Gyorko hammered a solo-shot of his own with two outs in the ninth to knot things up for St. Louis, which picked up it’s fifth straight win. Los Angeles closer Kenley Jansen blew the save in the ninth and Bud Norris suffered the loss. Howie Kendrick and Justin Turner each went deep in defeat for L-A.
(Milwaukee, WI) — Dexter Fowler returned from the disabled list and cranked a leadoff home run as the Cubs ripped the Brewers, 5-2, at Miller Park. Fowler added a two-run double in the second inning to pace the Cubs. Jason Hammel tossed five-plus innings of two-run ball to get the win. Ryan Braun homered for the Brewers, who have lost four of their past five games. Jimmy Nelson was tagged with the loss.
