Two individuals are in custody at the Fayette County Jail following a raid conducted on a home this morning in Hagarstown. Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says they became aware that a wanted individual was living in the home in Hagarstown and the Sheriff’s Department and the ILEAS (Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System) SWAT Team went to the home this morning at 6 am. Sheriff Smith says there was a standoff for about one hour or so and then he says they used tear gas to attempt to force the individuals from the home—and Sheriff Smith says the individuals then exited the residence. Two individuals were arrested—-The first individual, 41 year old Shane T. Hans, is facing pending charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Vicious Dog that has not been Neutered by a Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting a Peace Office and outstanding warrants from both Fayette and Effingham Counties. The second individual, 33 year old Kayleigh Jo Hughes was arrested on pending charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting a Peace Office and Concealing or Aiding a Fugitive. Both individuals remain in the Fayette County Jail. Sheriff Smith also added the ILEAS SWAT Team did a “fantastic” job this morning.
