There will be four Memorial Day events in Fayette County today. The Brownstown VFW will host their annual Memorial Day program at 11 am on Monday at the Memorial Wall in Brownstown’s village park. According to the Brownstown VFW Facebook page, State Senator Kyle McCarter is not able to attend and Chris Aguayo will now be the keynote speaker for the event. Also, Brownstown students Jacob Baron and Addison Cage will read their winning essays. WPMB will have the recorded broadcast of the Brownstown Memorial Day Ceremony—starting at 12:30 pm this afternoon.
Also on Monday, the St. Elmo American Legion will host their annual Memorial Day event at 1:30 pm next to the Phillips Building, in front of their Veteran’s Wall. The keynote speaker will be Dan Miller from the Wounded Warriors Project.
A Memorial Day service will be conducted this morning in Ramsey Cemetery by American Legion Post 460, starting at 10:00 a.m. with a message by Rev. Jeff Schouse, concluding with the 21-gun salute to departed comrades in arms.
And, in Vandalia on Monday will be the 14th annual Walk Across America—which is an annual walk to show support for the troops. The walk will begin at 1 pm today at the Vandalia Statehouse and they then walk to the Vandalia American Legion.
