The state government not paying it’s bills on time is not a new development, but closing down two state parks is a new wrinkle in the on going financial problems. State Senator Kyle McCarter says the Department of Natural Resources informed him on Wednesday of the indefinite closure of the Ramsey Lake State Park in his district, and also Horseshoe Lake State Park near Granite City—because the state hasn’t paid electric, utility and trash bills. Senator McCarter says this is just an example of the major problems facing state government.
Senator McCarter says the only way out of the crisis is by making tough decisions about policies and priorities, which means government must live within its means, just like families and small businesses.
