(Atlanta, GA) — Carlos Martinez drove in two runs to go along with six strong innings on the mound to help the Cardinals crush the Braves, 12-2, at Turner Field. Kolten Wong scored three times and had three of a season-high 14 hits for St. Louis, which won their second straight game after being swept to open the season. It was a sloppy game as each team committed three errors. Atlanta scored both its runs in the second inning. Starter Julio Teheran was chased after four innings of five-run ball. The Braves are winless this year at 0-and-4.
Cubs beat D-Backs
(Phoenix, AZ) — The Cubs offense got to Diamondbacks starter Zack Greinke early as Chicago held on to beat Arizona 4-2 from Chase Field. Ben Zobrist went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, while Kris Bryant doubled twice. Kyle Hendricks won his season debut by allowing two runs on four hits while pitching into the seventh inning. Hector Rondon worked a clean ninth for his first save. Greinke gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings to fall to 0-and-2. Brandon Drury collected two hits, including a double and had the Snakes lone RBI.
