(City, IL) — Lawmakers are firing up another effort to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana in Illinois. A bill moving through the Senate adopts some of the changes Governor Rauner recommended when he vetoed a previous version of the bill — lowering the amount of pot punishable by a mere fine to ten grams, and raising the fine to at least one-hundred-dollars. The bill also sets a standard for how much marijuana in the blood is too much to be behind the wheel. It could be voted on in the Senate next month and then sent to the House.
