A 28 year old Brownstown man was uninjured in a one vehicle accident early this morning after he allegedly attempted to flee from police. Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray says that a Vandalia Police Officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by 28 year old Tyler J. Roe of Brownstown just east of the Kaskaskia River Bridge on U.S. Route 40. Chief Ray says that Roe allegedly attempted to flee and crashed on Route 40, between Vandalia and Bluff City. Chief Ray says that citations were issued for speeding, reckless driving, improper lane usage, Driving under the Influence and fleeing or attempting to elude police. Chief Ray adds that Roe was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail. Crews were on the scene of the accident just after 4 am, as it appeared the vehicle had gone off the roadway, down a steep embankment and appeared to have overturned.
