Legislation pending in the State Senate lifts the sales tax on feminine hygiene products in Illinois. The measure exempts tampons and pads from the 6.25 percent state sales tax. The bill is sponsored by State Senator Melinda Bush who says this will also help seniors by exempting incontinence products as well.
The bill passed a Senate Committee, although lawmakers are looking into the chance can be made via rule instead passing a new state law.
