(Undated) — The Illinois EPA will no longer be informing drivers if they need a vehicle emissions test. The state EPA announced they have been forced to suspend mailing the reminders because of the budget crisis. Vehicle owners whose license plates expire at the end of March will be the first motorists not to receive the notice. As a result, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White is temporarily allowing license plate renewals for owners who haven’t taken the EPA emissions test.
