Candidate filings got underway on Monday, and Fayette County will have at least two contested county wide races in 2016. On Monday, Republican Circuit Clerk Kathy Emerick filed her paperwork to run for re-election. And, Democrat Ashley Towler filed her paperwork to run for Circuit Clerk, as well. There will also be a contested race for States Attorney, as Republican Joshua Morrison has said he will run for a second term and former States Attorney Stephen Friedel has announced he will run for the office again, although neither filed their paperwork on Monday. Republican Jenny (Austin) Waggoner filed her paperwork to run for District One of the County Board
Glen “Whitey” Daniels filed his paperwork to run for re-election to the County Board in District 3.
